Fishers, IN Area Guide

A suburb of Indianapolis, Fishers has grown in recent decades by leaps and bounds. The population of 350 people in 1963 grew to 7,200 in 1990 and has since been ranked as the 24th best place to live in America by Money magazine and its reputation grew. Today Fisher has been named America’s best affordable suburb by BusinessWeek and ranked eighth in the best places to live, again by Money Magazine. Located in Fall Creek and Delaware townships of Hamilton County, Fishers was originally named Mudsock but changed to Fishers Switch, a reference to the railroad switch assignment. Named after Salathial Fisher, eventually even that name was shortened to Fishers in 1908.

Now, with its increased population, Fishers has become a popular place with The Artists’ Studio, a community theater and the Fishers Banquet and Conference Center, Fishers has become the place to be if you’re looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of nearby Indianapolis.

If you’re looking for good business opportunities, and fun things to do, there’s plenty to take care of that spare time in Fishers!
